Based on the diary of the young Italian soldier Grigolon Gemmino who was deported to Germany in 1943, Carlo Grigolon describes his imprisonment, the challenges of daily survival and the experience of the last month in Berlin during the Allied bombing raids. His account paints a picture of despair, resignation and destruction caused by the war.
